Description: "Je Suis Effraye!..."A wonderful late 18th century caricature published by Depeuille, rue des Mathurins., Jacques..." The image is of an English officer alarmed at the prospect of a French invasion. It is fascinating to see the French view of the Napoleonic conflict, matching the English take by artists such as Gillray, etc. This officer exclaims "Quoi? Les Francois arrivent. God-dam que deviendrons nous?" (What? The French are arriving? God-dam, what will become of us?). This is a scarce item. The only example I could find online is in the Brown University Digital Repository website. They date the print 1798. Size: the sheet measures approx. 30cms x 20cms.Condition: Some wear evident in the corners - pinholes etc. A little professional restoration top right corner (see photo). The odd mark on the print image, but generally this is in a very acceptable condition with original handcolouring. Please study the photographs. Postage: £7.50 within the UK. £12.00 to Europe, £18.00 to USA etc.I have other antique prints, books, maps etc. in my ebay shop - please see my other items.
