Description: George III. LOVELY Solid Sterling Silver Pap Boat/Bowl, beautiful floral & foliate detail to the sides and stunning acanthus leaf decoration to the spout. Full English Sterling Silver Hallmarks for William Cripps, London, 1774. Condition is antique item in excellent condition, two very minor bruises to the base. Measurements approximately: Length back to spout: 12cm (4.3/4”) Width widest part of sides: 7.5cm (3”) Weight: 54g Please inspect all my photographs very carefully and thoroughly as they are part of my description. The antique silver pap boat was originally used as a shallow feeding dish for a baby, child or invalid. These appeared circa 1710 and fell out of manufacture about 120 years later. With their smooth elegant shape, they make ideal servers for sauce. The Pap boat was used for gruel, or bread and milk etc.
