1/72 M983 HEMTT & Pershing II Missile Modelcollect #UA72360 Factory Sealed MISB

Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Modelcollect is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a fabulous reputation for innovation and quality. They initially produced some small scale finished models and later branched out into kits and larger scales. Luckily for us, they have also produced some unique subjects never available before. I especially like the fact that they use customer feedback to improve their kits to correct errors. This interesting kit falls into that category. The HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) Tractor has been in use by the US and her allies since the early 1980s to haul every kind of military load imaginable. The M983 tractor variant is designed for use with the Pershing II missile erector launcher system, which included a 30kW generator and a crane. The Pershing II served until the early 1990s when the ballistic missile was negotiated out of existence by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. I found over a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have it in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this very modern kit: The Modelcollect website has a page that shows the box art and the 14-page instruction set, showing the parts layout and assembly steps. From other sources, I have found the following information about their kit: The Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) is an eight-wheel drive, diesel-powered, 8x8 10-ton tactical truck. The HEMTT’s objective is to provide heavy transport capabilities for supply and re-supply of combat vehicles and weapons systems. The Pershing II Weapon System was a solid-fueled two-stage medium-range ballistic missile designed and built to replace the Pershing 1a Field Artillery Missile System as the United States Army’s primary nuclear-capable theater-level weapon. · 1/72 scale model kit of the M983 Tractor and Pershing II TEL Trailer. · The outriggers can be built in the extended or retracted position.· Pershing II missile can be displayed in vertical position on the trailer.· Chassis details and engine are intricately recreated.· Photo-etch fret and waterslide decals are provided. Strangely, scalemates.com does not show this kit, although they have great pages on the preceding versions and related kits. I could not find any reviews of the listed kit (#UA72360), but there are several for the parent kit (#UA72077), which I believe is essentially the same kit. Volker Helms posted an extensive In-Box Review of the parent (#UA72077) kit on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site. He presents an interesting history and shows about a dozen high resolution photos of the kit contents. He praises the quality of the moldings and summarizes with: “A great kit of the Pershing II including transport and start vehicle from Modelcollect in 1/72. Due to the high number of parts, this kit is only recommended for advanced model builders.” Manuel Leyva posted a brief In-Box Review of the parent (#UA72077) kit on the German-language modellversium.de site. Highlights of the kit are pointed out as the four-piece tires and one-piece cab. We get over a dozen high resolution photos of the kit contents. He found no Weaknesses in his summary, but noted the following Strengths: “very detailed, very good workmanship and unique in this scale”. DetailScaleView did an 8.5-minute Unboxing Video of the parent (#UA72077) kit that shows each sprue while narrating continuously with a Russian accent. They also had a bilingual (English & Russian) In-Box Review on the detailscaleview.com site. They highlight the impressive detail and quality of the parts. Their conclusion includes: “As for the HEMTT, it offers excellent molding quality and clever parts division for reasonable price. Another good thing - separately molded doors and detailed engine.” This kit is in a nice, sturdy box about 13” x 9.5” x 2.5”, decorated with the big truck hauling the Pershing II missile somewhere. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with detailed grey and clear plastic parts, four rubber tires, a fret of photo etched metal parts, a nice sheet of decals and a full color instruction sheet and painting guide. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
