1/700 USS Wasp CV-7 Wood Deck (Corsair Armada) Blue Ridge Model #71013 Seal MISP

Description: I would like to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. I have said that in my opinion, the single most impressive upgrade for any ship kit is a classic wooden deck. This is a laser cut precision wood deck to go with Corsair Armada’s excellent 1/700 resin kit of the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp CV-7. This Wasp was a one-off carrier that was commissioned in 1940 but was sunk by torpedoes from the I-19 off Guadalcanal in September 1942. The salvo of 6 torpedoes was a legendary success, with three striking the Wasp and two others damaging the destroyer USS O’Brien and the battleship USS North Carolina. This set simply contains the multi-part (2 individual pieces) self-adhesive teak-tone wood deck for the resin USS Wasp kit from Corsair Armada Productions. I only found one listing for this set on eBay (getting rare), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this set very quickly. Here is some of what I found out about this wonderfully detailed, hard-to-find product: The Blue Ridge Models site (at squadron.com) only shows the fine wood deck laid down on an unpainted USS Wasp model. Scalemates.com has a listing that confirms that it is designed for the resin Corsair Armada kit of the USS Wasp CV-7 (CAP #7011). They show the same photo of the deck mounted to the model and provide links to aftermarket parts and references to help with your Wasp build. I couldn’t find any reviews of this particular deck, but Eberhard Sinnwell did an outstanding review on the German-language modellmarine.de site of the wood deck for the 1/700 USS Ranger CV-4. I assume his comments would apply to the entire family of Blue Ridge Models wood decks. He highly recommends it, noting that only real wood can look as natural as wood. His best comments were: “The deck, which is only a few tenths of a millimeter thick, makes an excellent impression. The grain runs parallel to the excellently printed caulk joints. The details such as the pulleys of the safety ropes, which are raised on the plastic deck, can also be easily removed.” The set is in a clear plastic sleeve about 13” x 3.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed. As usual, I have resisted the temptation to open it (not hard since you can see everything through the plastic), so I consider it still factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one laser cut self-adhesive wooden deck (in 2 pieces) for your own 1/700 Corsair Armada USS Wasp CV-7 resin kit. Using this for other kits (like the Aoshima kits) may work well, but that would be at your own risk. The deck requires no cement or paint to complete as shown.
