Description: I want to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. The USS Pennsylvania was the lead ship of a two-ship class of battleships built just before WWI. During her long career, the Pennsylvania served in the Atlantic and Pacific, but was spared during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 by being in drydock at the time. Her end came not in battle but in nuclear testing after the war. Samek Models, a small Czech model company, produced this excellent Limited Edition kit of the USS Pennsylvania in her 1941 configuration with finely detailed resin parts and intricate photo etched metal detailing. I only found two of these kits listed on eBay (rare and hard-to-find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this Limited Edition kit: The distributer for ŘOP o.s. Samek Models (mn-modelar.com) has no page for this kit. It has one for the sister ship, USS Arizona, but it only shows the box art and has no information about the kit. Scalemates.com also has no listing for the Pennsylvania, even though they have one for the USS Arizona that shows the Box Art and tells us this is a 2021 new tooling. I would assume that the USS Pennsylvania is derived from the same kit. I could not find any reviews of this exact kit, but here are some reviews of similar releases from the same company: Martin J Quinn did a very thorough In-Box Review of the USS Arizona kit (#S700/141) on the modelwarships.com site with around 70 high resolutions photos of the resin parts, photo etched metal parts and instructions. He feels that the resin parts are very sharply cast with really good details and no flash. He had issues with other areas of the kit that might need to be addressed by the modeler. His Conclusion contained: “it's nice to see Samek Models release a new model of the USS Arizona, the first new kit of this ill-fated ship in about 15 years.” Steve Backer from steelnavy.com did reviews on three similar Samek kits, so that provides additional testimony to let us know the quality and accuracy of these kits in general. He covers the USS Missouri BB-11 1912, the USS Virginia BB-13 1909 and the USS Texas BB-35 1945 in his reviews. Each review shows the amazingly detailed resin and photo etched parts and Steve seems to be Samek’s biggest fan, sprinkling praise and compliments throughout his reviews. For another opinion, we can turn to Rob Mackie, who did another glowing review of the Samek Bismarck on the steelnavy.com site. You get pictures of the parts and pieces of that kit, and I can only assume that the quality of this kit is up to the same high standards. This kit is in a box about 14.5” x 5” x 2”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great shape and still sealed with shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains highly detailed resin parts and a fret of photo-etched metal parts to make an outstanding waterline model of this long-serving Battleship. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time, I am offering this fine kit with $6 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
