Description: For sale is this lovable German-made K&R Kammer and Reinhardt celluloid head doll with a plump jointed composition body. This sweet, sleepy little boy measures about 16 inches tall. The back of his head is marked K&R (with the ampersand inside a Star of David) 1728/6 Germany. This doll has soft wavy rumpled strawberry blond hair, flirty winking blue eyes, an open mouth, two little teeth and an adorably chubby composition body that is jointed only at the shoulders and hips. Though he has a voice box opening in his back, it does not appear to work. He wears a set of striped short-sleeved jammies with hidden snaps. Underneath, he wears a set of knitted underthings - a little sleeveless top that ties at the neck and little pants. Because the little pants are slightly caught up in the voice box covering on the back, I did not want to risk harm to the doll by trying to remove them. The price tag attached to this doll by my late great aunt, owner of an antique store, says this doll is circa 1912. That seems about right. The doll was well loved by some child, and shows wear and stains on the clothing, scuffing and paint loss to its body (especially at the hips) and and some residue on its left cheek that I think could probably be gently removed - but I will let you attempt that. This doll came from the 1972 estate of my late great aunt, who owned an antique shop in Avilla, Indiana. That's her tag attached. Please see the photos for details and don't be shy with questions!
