Initially, I thought that it was a boulder opal, but upon closer examination, it is more likely to be a doublet, even though the back treatment is not solid, nor is it the darker black/brown that one would expect.The color play is amazing, and this changed from lighter to deeper blue with light change. This ring weighs in at 4.2 grams and is in excellent overall condition, an estate find.
