Description: 1/48th Scale Pro-built Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6/R6 This is not a commissioned build - this plane is ready to fly to your home tomorrow! This is a pro-built model that has been part of my collection for many years. It has been in a dust-proof cabinet the whole time. THE MODEL This is a Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6/R6, armed with two additional MG 151/20 cannon mounted under each wing. The "yellow 4" was a fighter of JG 300 and based in Bonn-Hangelar, March 1944. The underside of this aircraft was completely sprayed with black paint, also the crosses. The camouflage on the side of the plane consisted of dark, wavy lines. This Bf 109 may have been flown by Ltn. Manfred Dieterle, while he was Squadron Commander (Staffelkapitn) of 3./JG300. JG 300 had its origins in April 1943, when Major Hajo Herrmann, a decorated bomber pilot, advocated the use of single-seat day fighters as night fighters against the Royal Air Force (RAF) bomber offensive. He suggested that single seat fighters could operate in the bombers' general target area using the light of target indicators, massed searchlights and the fires on the ground to spot their targets. These operations were tested over Berlin during May and June 1943 and codenamed Wilde Sau. PACKING I will pack it the way it was sent to me - it will be gently placed on a "cloud" of fiber floss with a similar covering to help buffet it from careless postal workers. This is how it was sent to me and arrived in good shape. That said, there is always risk when sending out these fragile items (pitot tubes, aerials and aerial masts are particularly prone to damage). Make sure you remove the fiber with great care, lifting the model gently straight-up, after removing the fiber covering it, as not to break off any of the tubes hanging from the planes ventral surface. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that some of the fiddly bits will not break off during transit.
