1/35 Panther II Tank Cyber Hobby/Dragon Super Value Pack #9103 Shrink Wrap MISB

Description: I want to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! This is the third kit in the long line of Orange Super Value Packs from Cyber Hobby (Dragon) that have become increasingly hard to find. Cyber Hobby chose the German Panther II Tank which was designed but never put into production. I have had the good fortune of seeing and touching this rare vehicle (along with a cutaway King Tiger) several times at the Patton Tank Museum at Fort Knox when we lived in Kentucky. I am glad I visited when I had the chance because most of the tanks were moved to Fort Benning in 2011. This Super Value Pack kit is a repackaging (and updating) of the very successful Dragon Panther II kit (#6027) with the bonus of a highly detailed set OVM (Outer Vehicle Materials) or pioneer tools and four German Volkssturm figures from Berlin 1945 (Dragon #6020). I could only find a few listings for this kit on eBay (getting hard-to-find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web for this rare kit: The cyber-hobby.com site no longer has a page for this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I have found the following information about this kit: The Panther II is a development version of the standard PzKpfw V tank. The main changes, in the first stage of work, consisted in strengthening the frontal armor of the tank while maintaining its considerable angle of inclination. The first prototypes of this vehicle appeared in 1943. The length of the tank, including the gun barrel, was 6.6 meters with a width of 3.4 meters. The armament of the vehicle consisted of a 75mm KwK 42 L / 70 gun and two 7.92mm MG34 machine guns. Due to the experience gained from the operation of the Panther I vehicles, it was also planned to use a completely new turret - the so-called Schmallturm. However, in the first half of 1943 it was decided not to put the Panther II into production, but interestingly, further development works on this tank were not abandoned. However, the Panther II never entered mass production. - Value Added OVM Set- Bonus Figures Set: German Volkssturm, Berlin 1945 (Dragon #6020) Scalemates.com shows that this is a 2009 release (with new parts) based on the original Dragon Panther II kit (DML #6027) from 1994. They have a link to download the complete 8-page full-color instruction set and painting guide. They also show the box art and links to reviews, aftermarket parts, project galleries and references that could help in your build. Scott Van Aken published a brief Preview on the modelingmadness.com site. He provides a short history of Panther tanks and the proposed development of the Panther II. We get the box art and an image of the parts layout drawing from the instructions. He explains that Dragon created the Cyber Hobby brand to produce rare subjects like this one and the Super Value Pack line has been very popular. He said in his Conclusion: “Detailing is all that we have come to expect from the Dragon folks with crisply molded parts and zero flash.” Charles Reading posted a short In-Box Review on the archive.armorama.com site with eighteen photos of the instruction, sprues, hull parts, PE parts, decals and a completed model. He provides a complete breakdown of the parts and some favorable comments on the instructions. He was also a fan of the figure set, describing one of the Highs as: “They give you a lot with the figures etc. and this is a fairly unique subject.” Greg Ewald delivered a very informative Build Review on the modelingmadness.com site with a lengthy background on the Panther II. He gives us a tutorial on painting armor models with step-by-step guidance on using salt crystals and weathering techniques. We get a few shots of his progress and a nice look at his finished beast. He had a great time with this project and his Conclusion starts with: “If you are into German armor What-If’s, this one is a definite must have. A simply beautiful kit, easy to put together, with great figures too. Highly recommended.” DOGMA 4-1 posted a nice 12-minute Unboxing video on YouTube that starts with the instructions before pulling out the sprues. He describes the parts and lets you get a closeup look at the details. He spends a good deal of time on the excellent figure set with their weapons and realistic clothing. It closes out with a quick look at the PE parts and decals. This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 15” x 9.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is in incredible shape and still sealed with the original shrink wrap (plus small tape disks), so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 400 grey plastic parts, a fret of photo etched metal parts, a sheet of decals and a bonus set of four German Volkssturm figures from Berlin 1945 (Dragon #6020). It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this item is offered with $9 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
