Description: Presented is a lovely set of 12 French first standard silver forks from the early 19th century. This set is made in a classic Fiddle Thread Shell type pattern, with fiddlehead terminals, shoulders above the tines, and shell decorations on both sides of the handles. This is a timeless flatware pattern and is incredibly easy to match to existing Fiddle Thread Shell pattern sets, whether French, English, American, antique, or modern. The reverse of each piece is marked with the French 1st standard hallmark for .950 purity silver, which is higher than sterling silver (925), and dates the set between 1819-1838. The forks are also marked with the Paris guarantee mark, and the maker's mark for Francois-Dominique Naudin. This set is in excellent overall condition, especially considering age. There is a small zig-zag on the front of each handle; this is not wear but a counter-strike from the production of the set. The set is not monogrammed and has no monogram removals. There are some knife marks on the back of the tines from normal use. There are no breaks and no repairs.
