Description: Very rare balloon CDS “Louisville & Cincinnati Mail Line” River Mail Route ties #11A Plate 1L, sulfureted, to the partial folded letter sheet, docketing dates this to 1853. This cancel used on Route 5032, which was contracted to the U.S. Mail Line between Jul. 1846 & Jun. 1858 for a daily service. Additionally, a very scarce (probably unique) use of “APL” instead of “APR” for April. Ex. Chase/DiComo. Listed in Simpson's, No. 18, pp. 200-01, RF7. See images for details/condition.
