Description: This lot consists of 11 vintage DAW science fiction paperbacks from the 1970s and early 1980s, with those familiar yellow covers! Here's an affordable way to start (or continue to build) your collection of vintage Daw science fiction paperbacks. These books range in quality from very good to "acceptable but still fairly good." They show varying signs of wear, reading, storage, handling, or age. Please see the photos and read the below written descriptions for a full sense of the condition of each book. THE MINDBLOCKED MAN by Jeff Sutton 1st printing, 1972. Smooth spine with no creases from previous readers. Good, tight binding Front cover has visible edge wear and light but noticeable corner wear. Back cover has surface discoloration of white areas and corner denting plus areas of scuffing, yellowing, or superficial staining. Interiors of covers lightly yellowed from age. Book feels its age a bit, but it's still solid and readable. GREEN PHOENIX by Thomas Burnett Swann 1st printing, 1972. Illustrations by George Barr. Good condition for its age. Spine is smooth with no creases. Binding is nice and tight. Front cover has creasing along left edge where cover has been opened, so it opens a bit easily but it's still solid and intact. Front and back covers have only light corner or edge wear. Front cover has a tiny number "15" written near the top edge in what may be blue pen. Bottom of opening page has a small squiggle (possibly a previous owner's initials?) in red pen. Exterior of book has some light scuffing and discoloration typical of old Daw paperbacks, especially the exterior white areas. Interiors of front and back covers browned from age. Spine has some light cracking and light edge wear. An imperfect but overall good copy of this vintage paperback. OCEAN ON TOP by Hal Clement 1st printing, 1973. Spine has some light creasing from a previous reader but the binding is still good and solid. Binding has some wear to top and bottom edges. Front cover has edge wear, including some small edge chips, and corner wear, plus some creasing along left edge where cover has been opened. Back cover has some corner denting and some discoloration of white areas, as well as some surface scuffing, darker discoloration, and a couple of small smudges or stains. Interiors of covers only lightly tinged yellow from age. Bottom right corners of pages are slightly dented from storage. Despite a few flaws, a good, solid copy of this paperback for its age. KING OF ARGENT by John T. Phillifent 10th printing, 1973. Smooth spine with no creases. Nice, tight binding, Spine does have some light wear along edges. Front cover has light edge and corner wear, plus some surface scuffing, mostly near the bottom right corner, and a very small chip along right edge. Back cover has some surface scuffing and discoloration and lightly dented corners. Interiors of covers moderately yellowed from age, with more yellow-brown near top edges. Opening page once had a price written in upper right corner; it's been erased but the pencil still left an impression. A very good, solid copy of this vintage paperback. BERNHARD THE CONQUEROR by Sam J. Lundwall 1st printing, 1973. Smooth spine with no visible creases. Good, solid binding. Spine does have a couple of ripples or cracks. Front cover has edge wear and light corner wear, plus a few superficial surface scratches or scuffs. Back cover has corner wear and light surface yellowing of white areas, typical of these gold-covered Daw paperbacks, plus some surface discoloration and superficial surface scratches. Interiors of covers lightly yellowed from age, with darker discoloration near top edges. Book shows signs of handling and light reading but is in overall good condition for its age. A VOYAGE TO DARI by Ian Wallace 1st printing, 1974. Smooth spine with no creases. Good, tight, solid binding, Front cover has cracking along left edge parallel to spine but cover still feels good, solid, and intact. Front cover has light edge and corner wear and only light surface scuffing. Spine has wear to upper back corner and a small crack or wear around lower back corner. Interiors of covers lightly to moderately yellowed from age. Opening page once had a price written in upper right corner; it's been erased but the pencil still left an impression. some yellowing of page edges. Overall a good to very-good copy of this paperback. THE DAW SCIENCE FICTION READER, edited by Donald A. Wollheim 1st printing, 1975. Includes a complete novel by Andre Norton, a story by Alan Burt Akerns, a Dorsai novelette by Gordon R. Dickson, and other stories by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Tanith Lee, Brian M. Stableford, and Lin Carter. Yellow spine has faded to white, probably from sun exposure. Spine has light creasing from reading and a couple of spine "ripples" from cheap manufacturing processes near the top and bottom edges of spine. Front cover has some edge wear, especially a clear dent or long chip/crack along top edge, and visible surface scuffing. Back cover has very light corner or edge wear but does have some surface scuffing. Interiors of covers are still close to white and are only slightly tinged or discolored from age. Despite a few imperfections, this is a good, solid copy of this paperback. THE NAPOLEONS OF ERIDANUS by Pierre Barbet 1st printing, 1976. Smooth spine, nice tight binding. Spine has some minor corner wear and some surface fading. Front cover has some corner wear and light edge wear. Back cover has some minor wear and some surface discoloration. Interiors of covers lightly yellowed with dark yellowing near edges. Shows its age a bit, but this is a really nice, solid copy of this paperback. COSMIC CRUSADERS by Pierre Barbet 1980, second printing. Contains two translated novels: BAPHOMET'S METEOR and STELLAR CRUSADE. Spine has creasing from previous reading, plus some surface fading from handling or sun exposure. Covers have only minor corner or edge wear Covers have some discoloration or fading of surfaces from age. Binding is solid but not tight as a new book would be. Interiors of covers yellowed from age, with darker discoloration near edges. A somewhat handled paperback that can still be read and enjoyed. WARLORD OF GHANDOR by Del DowDell 1st printing, 1977. Smooth spine with no creases. Nice, tight binding. Front cover has only very light edge wear and only slight surface scuffing. Back cover has a bit of denting to bottom left corner and only light discoloration of white areas. Spine has only very light edge wear. Pages 9 to 14 have small folds to lower page corners. Opening page once had a price written in upper right corner; it's been erased but the pencil still left an impression. Exterior page edges have some scuffing. Interiors of covers only lightly tinged from age, with more visible yellowing near edges, A solid, very good copy of this vintage paperback. WAVES by M.A. Foster 1st printing, October 1980. This paperback shows its age a bit more than other books in this lot. The spine is somewhat faded or worn from age. Binding is good and tight, but the front cover opens somewhat easily because of cracking along left edge. Front cover has edge wear, corner wear, and some edge chips. Back cover has discoloration and surface scuffing and some surface stains. Interiors of covers mostly yellowed/browned from age. Page edges yellowed. This copy isn't quite as nice as most of the other books in this lot, but it's still solid and readable. I do NOT use stock photos.
